Hotel and Services
The independence of an apartment and hotel services
A bit of History...
Under the Second Empire, Miss Campbell, a Scottish noble, accepted the invitation of some doctors and came to stay in Ajaccio.
The mildness of the climate and the warmth of the welcome, lead her to settle in.
At this period foreign winterers are numerous. The current boulevards «Sylvestre Marcaggi» and «Fred Scamaroni» were called «Boulevard des Etrangers». Some hotels were built there and the «cours Grandval» was enriched with cottages on the initiative of the Count of Bacciochi, friend of Napoleon III.
Miss Campbell, who was wealthy, acquired land between the cottages and the Casone in 1873. She had her Villa des Paons built there (which became School and then a dependency of the rectorate) as well as the "Albion Tower".
She contributes to the construction of the Hotel Germania, Grand Hotel Continental, currently headquarters of the Collectivity of Corsica. In 1870 she bought the land for the construction of the "Anglican Church" (now the Municipal Dance School).
Miss Campbell died in 1881. Today the street next to "Albion Tower" bears her name.
It was in 1969 that the «Lucchini-Péri» family bought the park located around the Villa des Paons and designed a property there. Hotel ALBION, which they still own, is one of them.
